Manolis Othonas served as a Deputy Minister at the Ministry for the Protection of the Citizen, between 2010-2012, in the government of George Papandreou (PASOK, 2009-2012). He was elected Member of the Greek Parliament for Rethymno, Crete, in 2004 and 2009. As an MP, he served in the Parliamentary Committee for Public Administration, Public Order and Justice. In 2008 he became a member of the National Council of PASOK. Since 2019, he is a member of the Political Council of KINAL (Movement for Change), a centrist political party that was founded as a merger of PASOK and other small parties.
