Founded in 1953, the “Mitera” Infant Centre is a public institution, with a mission to care for infants, toddlers and young children. Its total capacity is for 100 children, placed in 8 lodges, each one with a capacity of up to 13 children. The Centre operates adoption and foster care programs. It also works with pregnant women, providing them with lodging, food and health care, as well as access to support and advice from psychologists and social workers. Since 2013, it is an annex Child Protection Centre, administratively supervised by the Social Welfare Centre of the Region of Attica.
